If purchasing a rug to go under a table then make sure it is large enough not just to accommodate the table but also the chairs when they are pulled out. Another way to change the look of your kitchen is to bring the outdoors inside, do not be scared to add a few hanging plants around the room by hooks in the ceiling in say a corner. Also plants add not only interest to the room but will soften it also.

Why not place silk plants on the tops of cabinets or in hard to reach places (you will be able to buy good quality arrangements that look extremely realistic). Finally, why not add a few accessories to change the look. All you need do is place a few accessories in strategic positions around your kitchen and it will alter it from a dull uninviting space to warm and welcoming. Even if you want to go with a certain style you could well give your kitchen a whole new look just by changing a few of the key accessories to be found in yours such as canister sets, salt & pepper mills, pot holders even the pots themselves.
